Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Govt. Polytechnic, Port Blair was established in the year 1984 and the Second Govt. Polytechnic in the area was established in the year 1989.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Govt. Polytechnic is a leading technical education and training institute presently situated in the islands. This institute is the first Govt. Diploma level institution in the country to get ISO 9001 Quality System Certification. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Govt. Polytechnic is engaged in carrying out original research of significance and technology development at the cutting edge. It imparts training to students so that they become competent and motivated engineers and scientists.
